I never set out to become a writer.
If anything, writing felt like the inevitable next step after spending years immersed in books. After reading hundreds of stories, ideas, and perspectives, I discovered that writing has a way of pulling at you. It creates an almost irresistible desire to contribute your own voice to the conversation—to express an opinion, explore a question, challenge an assumption, or share a perspective shaped by your own experiences.
And I have certainly had experiences worth writing about.
FAITH
Alongside this journey came another life-changing experience: becoming a born-again Christian in my early twenties.
Faith opened a new dimension of understanding and purpose for me. What continues to fascinate me about Christianity is that the teachings of Jesus are genuinely good news—not only for individuals but for humanity as a whole. His message is profoundly encouraging, transformative, and life-giving. Yet over time, we have often fragmented that message into countless competing viewpoints, sometimes obscuring the simplicity and beauty of what Christ actually taught. Exploring faith, Scripture, and discipleship has become a central theme in my writing, particularly through my Christian book series, Twelve Divine Treasures for the Narrow Road.
My life has never resembled the ideal picket-fence story. Growing up brought its own challenges, but one of the defining realities of my journey has been living with kidney failure since before the age of ten. Navigating childhood, adolescence, and adulthood while watching the gradual decline of a failing body has given me a unique perspective on resilience, hope, suffering, and what truly matters in life.
WELLBEING
That same curiosity eventually found expression in my renal-friendly cookbook series.
Living on dialysis often meant navigating dietary restrictions that felt overwhelming. At one stage, my daily fluid allowance was limited to a single litre—including the fluids contained in food. Added to that were restrictions on dairy products, sodium, potassium, phosphate, and fats. Like many kidney patients, I frequently found myself wondering what I could actually eat.
Those challenges pushed me into extensive nutrition research. I became deeply interested in the mineral composition of foods and the practical realities of creating meals that were both enjoyable and suitable for people living with kidney disease. My renal cookbook series grew out of a desire to make that journey easier for others facing similar challenges.
At the same time, I have always been an analytical person by nature. My curiosity has led me down many paths of study and exploration. I have studied Agricultural Animal Science, Environmental Monitoring, and an incomplete MBA. I am also trained as an Environmental Inspector. Whether investigating environmental systems, studying nutrition, examining Scripture, or observing human behaviour, I am naturally drawn to understanding how things work and why they matter.
CHILDREN'S LITERATURE
My children's books emerged from a very different source of inspiration—my adventurous ginger tomcat.
He adores children, dislikes being indoors, and approaches life with an endless sense of curiosity and adventure. Watching him inspired me to create stories that capture the wonder and excitement of childhood while gently introducing environmental awareness at a grassroots level. I believe children learn best when education and imagination work together.
MY LITERARY LOUNGE
That vision also extends to My Literary Lounge.
My hope is to create more than a collection of books. I want to build a literary time vault that will remain for my children, their children, and future generations. At the same time, I am passionate about helping other authors whose goals align with a similar vision—writers who want to leave the world a little better than they found it. Through publishing support, book marketing, and literary services.
POETRY
Poetry, meanwhile, has become a natural outlet for reflection. Through poetry, I explore life's questions, struggles, victories, and moments of beauty in ways that prose sometimes cannot fully capture.
When I am not writing, you will likely find me reading, hiking, taking photographs, creating paper-quilling projects, researching a topic that has captured my attention, or developing new ideas for future books.
Above all, writing allows me to bring together the many threads of my life: faith, perseverance, curiosity, creativity, and a desire to contribute something meaningful to the world.
My Literary Lounge seeks to tip the scales of the literary world toward stories, ideas, and messages that inspire growth, wisdom, hope, and positive change.
Whether you arrived here looking for encouragement in your faith, practical guidance for healthier living, inspiring stories for children, thoughtful poetry, or simply a fellow traveller on life's journey, I am grateful that our paths have crossed.
